The Pharmaceutical Technologies Group is one of three principal academic groups within the Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University. The School is located in the Hawthorn Building, within the historical Newarke area of Leicester, close to both the city centre and the canal district.

The Pharmaceutical Technologies Group in the Leicester School of Pharmacy has been awarded grant funding from EMDA to establish the region's first terahertz facility. The facility is available to all East Midlands companies via demonstration workshops which are aimed at creating opportunities for process and product development and quality control.

Pharmaceutical Technologies (Geoff Smith and Eugene Polygalov) has been awarded a grant of £400k for its part in a Technology Strategy Board Collaborative R&D programme to develop Lyosense (a novel approach to monitoring of the freeze-drying  process).
