Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Optical Engineering

Fixed term for two years £29,138-£31,840 per annum

A postdoctoral research position is available now for the project “In-Process Particle Sizing by Refractive Index Measurement” in our group. The project is funded by joined sponsors of EPSRC and Industrial partners. You will be expected to undertake original research to develop a novel practical instrument using optical methods for in-process particle sizing in suspensions from 100nm to 100 um at concentrations up to 50% by volume. Specifically, you will undertake optical measurement system design, data acquisition system design, concentrated dispersion system modelling, and spectral data analysis. You will be also required to work closely with the project industrial sponsors. Candidates should have or be about to obtain a PhD in optical engineering, electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or possess equivalent experience. Previous research experience in optical measurement, instrumentation development including Labview and Matlab programming would be advantageous.
