Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics

Fixed term (one year) contract: Full-time or part-time (job share)

Grade F-G £28,289 - 40,335 (starting salary dependent upon qualifications and experience)

This fixed term contract of one year (to cover maternity leave) will involve teaching undergraduates on aspects of formulation, manufacture and analysis of pharmaceutical products and materials, on both our Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degrees. Job share between two suitable applicants will be considered.

You will have a degree in pharmacy, or other suitable discipline, a higher degree in an area related to pharmaceutics and/or pharmaceutical technology, and experience in formulation development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products and/or pharmaceutical materials characterization.

Teaching experience (including the supervision of laboratory classes) is desirable, though relevant experience more essential. As a suitable applicant you may be looking for a career change, for example, from a career in the pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry or hospital pharmacy, or you may be approaching the end of a further period of study (e.g. MSc or PhD) and looking for experience in academia. Support and orientation within the teaching environment will be offered through mentoring and co-supervision of classes with experienced lecturers. Candidates will be given opportunities for Staff Development and may be offered a place on the PGCert course if appropriate to their needs.

You will be expected to participate in all aspects of undergraduate teaching, including the supervision and assessment of practical classes, workshops, and final year projects, the preparation and delivery of lectures and the asessment of coursework and examinations. You will also be expected to undertake other duties as may be required from time to time, that are appropriate to the role of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (including Module Leadership).
