Current Research Interests

• The synthesis and characterisation of Interpenetrated Polymer Networks (IPNs) as drug reservoir in drug delivery systems.
• Polymer electrolyte as iontophoretic drug delivery systems.
• The study of structure-property relationships of new materials based on smart polymer gels by using x-ray scattering, x-ray absorption spectroscopy and electrochemical techniques.
• Synthesis and characterization of new conducting polymer for medical device applications.

Biography: Dr Schlindwein graduated as an Chemical Engineer in 1984 from the Federal Inversity of Rio de Janeiro, UFRJ, Brazil. She obtained her M.Sc. in Polymer Science and Technology from the Institute of Macromolecules of the UFRJ, Brazil in 1986, PhD in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry of the University of Leicester, England, in 1990, and DSc in Chemistry from the UFRJ in 1992. Her current research interests are in the areas of material sciences, polymer synthesis, characterisation and technology, dryg delivery using polymeric matrices, x-ray absorption spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation and electrochemical techniques applied to drug delivery and energy storage devices. She has over 90 publications in journals, books and conferences.
